Terms of Use

The rules for using the Ruhunu NextGen Tourism website, including how programme information, submissions, intellectual property and links to other sites are handled.

About these terms

The Ruhunu NextGen Tourism website at https://nextgentourism.lk is run by Ruhunu Tourist Bureau. These terms apply to everyone who uses it. By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

These terms work alongside our Privacy Notice, Cookie Policy and Child Safeguarding and Media Consent page.

Programme information

We work to keep information about the programme, competitions and the Innovation Challenge accurate and up to date. However, dates, rules, venues, categories and awards may change.

  • Official notices, circulars and rules issued by Ruhunu Tourist Bureau take priority over anything on this website.
  • Teachers should confirm important dates and rules through their school's official channels or by contacting us.
  • Registering a club or sending an enquiry does not guarantee selection, a place in an event, or an award.

Acceptable use

When you use this site, you must not:

  • break any law of Sri Lanka, or use the site for anything unlawful
  • give false information or pretend to be someone else, such as a teacher or school official
  • include students' names, contact details or other personal data in the forms
  • send abusive, threatening, offensive or discriminatory content
  • send spam, advertising or repeated automated submissions
  • try to access the admin area, other people's data or our systems without permission
  • upload or spread harmful code, or do anything that could damage, overload or disrupt the site

We may block access, remove content or refuse submissions that break these rules, and we may report unlawful activity to the authorities.

Forms and submissions

  • Only teachers and principals who are authorised by their school should register a school tourism club.
  • You must make sure the information you send is accurate, and tell us if it changes.
  • We may contact you using the details you give, to manage the programme and answer your enquiry.
  • We may decline or remove a registration that is false, incomplete or made without the school's authority.
  • Competition entries and innovation proposals are not accepted through this website at present. Follow the instructions issued for each competition.

Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle the personal data you send.

Our intellectual property

The Ruhunu NextGen Tourism name and logo, and the text, graphics and materials on this site, belong to Ruhunu Tourist Bureau or to the partners and photographers who allow us to use them.

  • You must not use the programme name or logo in a way that suggests our endorsement without our written permission.
  • Schools and school tourism clubs may print and share programme notices from this site for programme and classroom use, with credit to Ruhunu Tourist Bureau.
  • For any other use, including commercial use, ask us first.

Students' work

Essays, artwork, speeches and innovation ideas remain the work of the students who create them. Copyright stays with them.

  • Each competition's rules explain how entries may be displayed or published, for example in exhibitions, on this website or on our Facebook page.
  • We publish student work only as those rules allow, with credit to the student or school.
  • A student's name or photo is published only with the school's approval and the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
  • We do not sell students' work.

Links to other websites

This site links to other websites, including our Facebook page. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. Their own terms and policies apply. A link does not mean we endorse everything on that site.

Some pages embed our Facebook feed, which you can switch off in Privacy settings. Our Cookie Policy explains more.

Availability of the site

We aim to keep the site available, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site, for example for maintenance or security.

Our responsibility

The site is provided to share information about the programme. We take reasonable care with it, but we provide it as it is.

As far as the law allows, Ruhunu Tourist Bureau is not responsible for loss or inconvenience caused by:

  • relying on information on the site that has since changed or that conflicts with an official notice
  • the site being unavailable or slow
  • the content or practices of other websites, including Facebook
  • events outside our reasonable control

Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility that cannot be limited under the law of Sri Lanka.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page applies from the date shown below. Please check it now and then.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Sri Lanka. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any problem informally. Any dispute that cannot be resolved will be handled by the courts of Sri Lanka.
