Our aim
We want everyone to be able to use the Ruhunu NextGen Tourism website, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnifiers or older phones.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we have done
- You can move through the site using a keyboard alone.
- A skip link at the top of each page lets you jump past the menu to the main content.
- Images that carry meaning have text descriptions (alt text).
- Text and background colours are chosen to be easy to read.
- Core content can be read without JavaScript.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the site respects that setting.
Known limitations
- The site is in English only at launch. We plan to add Sinhala and Tamil.
- Some PDFs and images supplied by partners may not be fully accessible. For example, a scanned document or a poster with text inside the image may not work well with a screen reader.
- The optional Facebook feed is provided by Meta. We cannot control how accessible it is.
We are working to fix these issues. Until then, we can give you the information in another way.
Information in another format
If you need information from this site in a different format, contact us at [email protected] or +94 91 222 4072. For example, you can ask for:
- a plain text or large print version of a document
- a description of an image or poster
- information read out over the phone
- an explanation in Sinhala or Tamil
Tell us what you need and how to contact you, and we will do our best to help.
Reporting a problem
If you find a part of the site that is hard to use, please tell us at [email protected] or +94 91 222 4072. It helps if you include:
- the address of the page
- what you were trying to do
- the device, browser and any assistive technology you use
We will reply, and where we cannot fix the problem quickly we will give you the information another way.
Review of this statement
We will review this statement when the website changes, including when Sinhala and Tamil versions are added.
